How Does A Keylogger Work - Good Or Bad?
A keylogger are software designed to record everything you type on the keyboard such as passwords, user names, emails, credit card numbers and etc. Don’t have any idea how does a keylogger work?
Some company’s uses this kind of application to monitor the activities of their employee’s and the uses of the Internet in their computers. But when people discover and use it in a violent way this software can be dangerous. Often hackers take advantage of the keylogger because they can easily steal other person’s personal information.
The best advantage of keylogger is to use it for back-up objective when your system crashes. It is perfect to have keylogger installed in your computer so you won’t forget some of your important passwords.
Disadvantage of a keylogger, most hackers uses this kind of software to steal their victim’s personal information. It is a very harmful program when it is in the wrong hand because it runs almost invisibly as a low level system process. This program usually starts up when your computer is booted, so there is no way for you to detect it. Keyloggers are especially dangerous to anyone who uses online cash sites such as Pay pal for a large amount of money.
Ways on how to detect a keylogger:
o Open the task window by pressing ctrl+alt+Del on windows. Check some unknown tasks that are running.
o Using of the system configuration utility to detect task that are booted in the start up.
o Run your anti-virus software, it is possible to locate and pick up the keylogger.
Once you have found the harmful software, it is better to remove it. Click the process and then click the “End Process” button towards the bottom right. The process you have selected should be terminated immediately. After you have stopped the keylogger, run anti-virus to check your entire computer. However, advanced keyloggers can often get through this entire process and maintain undetected.
The perfect way of knowing if the keylogger has been completely wipe out on your system is to restart your computer and check if the file name of the keylogger still exist when your computer boots up.
